We locate in a lush tropical landscape of Greater Fort Lauderdale Areas in the
heart of South Florida. North of us is Palm Beach county and South is Miami
Dade County which famous for Miami Beach. East is Fort Lauderdale Beach of
the Atlantic Ocean and West is the famous Everglades.
Parrots have always fascinated us. Over the years we have had an
opportunity to handfeed and socialize hundreds of those wonderful birds.
Congo African Grey at 25 days old
Our babies are exceptional big, healthy and very calm.
We operated the Parrot Kingdom Bird Shop in Sunrise ( greater Fort
Lauderdale area) Florida. We would like to thank our customers who supported
us for the past six years by giving our babies good homes. We are also proud
that we handfeed and socialize every single bird. We know that only handraised
birds make good pets and proper socialization is the key to happy, independent
and balanced pet birds.
We grew up in farmland where tropical birds and parrots were always a part of our family life. During our childhood, we had an opportunity to raise the most wonderful birds like red whiskered Bulbuls, Hill Mynahs and Indian Ringnecks.
Since 2001, We have bred all kinds of birds from cockatiels, caiques, blue
quakers, eclectus... to african greys. Taking care of a large flock requires
a huge amount of time and real commitment. We love them all and they are
wonderful in their own way but we only have limited time to care for them.
We decided to specialize in Congo African Greys and Crimson Bellied Conures
so we can learn everything about them and raise them properly to become well
socialized and balanced birds. The goal is to make them a lifetime companion
for our customers. However, a best bird can not be happy itself without
an informed owner to provide the best care for their pets. It is especially true
with birds. They mostly are social creatures and are most happy with their flock
members -your family and you.
Birds are extremely messy so we need to clean and clean everyday. Unlike
dogs and cats that do not need supervision all the time, birds need attention
or they will chew everything in their way. They do not care if it is a new sofa or
a TV remote control. They need to chew and that makes them happy. In
additon, they have a very long life span. One of our customer's love bird lived to
30 years. African greys can live up to 80 years. Therefore, a new owner has
to consider this before thinking about buying or searching for a pet bird.
Our pets
We have two pets african greys, Pengbo & Smart, a pet parakeet named Lucky
& two dogs, Max & Thunder.
Our dogs Max & Thunder love to swim
Our dogs, Max & Thunder
Thunder & Max are very happy. They play and enjoy the garden everyday.
In addition to birds, we plant a lot of tropical plants like bamboos, heliconias ... and tropical fruits. Please visit Our Aviary & Garden for more pictures.
Max & Thunder- the King & Queen at our place.
Lost Birds that come to us
Once in a while, some lost birds fly to our aviary. Sometimes they are tame and come to us. Many times they are scared and starving but so shy. We try to catch them but we are not always successful. Most probably die from hunger. Please do not release your birds to the wild. This is against the law and very cruel. Always trim their primary feathers so they can not fly away.
Many lovebirds, parakeets and quakers flew to us. We gave them to our neighbors and customers. One parakeet we still keep.
Lucky - the parakeet that flew to our aviary
There is a love bird still living around our aviary but she is so shy and we can not catch her so we leave her alone. Once in awhile she flies back to our aviary to find food or she may feel more comfortable as some of our greys make sounds like a love bird.
